Furniture Store
AMANA FURNITURE STORE

We are a community of families, farmers and artisans that are nearly as old as Iowa itself. Quality craftsmanship isn’t a coincidence, it’s second nature. Our textiles are woven in the same buildingFacebook that was first used more than a century and a half ago, our meats are cured according to heritage recipes and our solid wood furniture lasts longer than it should. The exacting methods used today were brought from the old world by Amana’s first settlers, while the pioneering spirit of those first families continues to drive new innovations.

Wool Mill
AMANA WOOLEN MILL

The story of Amana parallels that of America. A small community from Germany sought religious freedom and found it in the fertile Iowa River Valley in 1855. Its members lived simply, without vanity, and dedicated themselves to living sustainably. Everything was shared and everything they needed they produced themselves.

Museums
THE AMANA HERITAGE SOCIETY MUSEUMS

We collect, preserve, and interpret the cultural heritage of the Amana Colonies National Historic Landmark. The Amana Heritage Society Museums offer a rich historical experience of the German communal settlement in the Iowa River Valley.

For additional places to visit check out the Historical Amish village of Kalona or the Herbert Hoover Library in West Branch.
