Statement on Coronavirus

Coronavirus

I would love to welcome you all to Die Heimat Country Inn. That is what we do – hospitality! So it goes against all our natural impulses to encourage you to do something else these days; that is to shelter in place and stop traveling any more than absolutely necessary.

I wish I could tell you that you can come visit and be completely safe from coronavirus with all our superior cleaning processes in place. However, that just does not feel right to us at this time. We cannot, in good conscience, urge you to come, when we all should be working hard to “flatten the curve” by staying at home to get this nasty virus behind us as quickly as possible. I’m happy to report there have been no confirmed cases here in our village of Homestead.

For cancellations due to the coronavirus we have happily applied deposits to a future stay, and will continue to do this. We will not be accepting any reservations for the month of April. We will be re-evaluating month by month as this situation evolves.

I will say, in all honesty, that the cancellations coming in strong since March 15 and well into the future are seriously hurting our business. But we are prepared to ride out the storm and come back strong and ready to receive guests. Marc and I continue to work here at our home, Die Heimat, so that we will be ready for you when this is over and the travel surge hits big time. Marc seems to have never ending projects and I am setting up an online store where you can purchase gift shop items from the comfort of your home.

Most stores in the Amana Colonies are closed for now too. The Ox Yoke Inn and Magpie’s Pizzeria are doing some take-out and delivery. The Amana Society stores (General Store, Woolen Mill, Little Red Wagon) are all closed except the Meat Shop. Other shops are doing online sales only or may open for very limited hours.

We look forward to seeing you in better times. Stay Strong Stay Healthy.
