The Innkeepers

Meet your host and hostess

Ron Cuchna and Joy Miller

Ron and Joy were excited to purchase the Die Heimat Country Inn B&B on February 1, 2011. For six years they owned and operated the “Joy in the Morning Bed and Breakfast” in Cedar Rapids and loved the experience. After selling the B&B they moved to an acreage in the Amana area and when they heard Die Heimat was available it was the opportunity they were looking for!

Joy grew up in the Kalona Mennonite community; as a child it was a special treat to go to the Amanas. Now as an adult it is almost like “coming home” after living and traveling in other parts of the world. Joy spent eighteen years in Johannesburg, South Africa (she refers to this as “my other life”). While living in South Africa she worked with several mission organizations and raised her three children, twin daughters and a son. After their return to the U.S. she developed a career as an insurance agent. In 2010 she completed studies for the degree of Doctor of Divine Healing. Her passion is learning – and teaching – wholeness and healthful living; wellness of body, soul, and spirit. For more information see www.joymiller.info.

Her husband Ron grew up in the beautiful hills of southwest Wisconsin. After  working many years as an engineer for the 3M company he then transitioned into Financial Services.  He works with individuals to preserve and enhance their retirement income programs. As a Christian financial advisor, he is careful to follow the mandate of good stewardship, making certain that his clients do not experience financial losses. Ron’s hobby is bow and gun deer hunting, one which he is now able to pursue in his own back yard! He is father of a daughter and a son; together he and Joy are the grandparents of ten.
